Welcome to Music & Life Teaching Studio! We are dedicated to providing excellent music education in a supportive and professional environment. Please review the following policies, which are designed to ensure clarity and smooth operation for both students and instructors. By enrolling in lessons, you agree to adhere to these guidelines.

1. Fees & Payment Terms

• Individual lesson: £35/session, 30mins. 

• After the first individual lesson, if you would like to continue, please join a monthly payment plan. 

• a) School term only: £109/month (total 40 lessons from September till July) No lesson and payment in August. 

• b) Or based on the number of lessons: £30/session, e.g. 4 lessons in June = £120

• Monthly Fees: An invoice will be sent to your email at the beginning of each month, please kindly make payment when you receive the invoice. 

• Late Payment Surcharge: Payments received after the 15th will incur a late payment surcharge of 10% of the total fee.

• Accepted Payment Methods: We accept bank transfer or cash payments. Please ensure that payment is made on time to avoid any disruptions in your lessons.

 

2. Lesson Scheduling & Cancellation Policy

• 24-Hour Cancellation Notice: To cancel or reschedule a lesson, please provide at least 24 hours' notice via email or phone. This includes cancellations due to illness.

• Cancellations with More Than 24 Hours' Notice: If you cancel with more than 24 hours' notice, you will receive a make-up credit for that lesson, which can be used to reschedule at a later time.

• Cancellations Less Than 24 Hours: If you cancel a lesson with less than 24 hours' notice, the teacher is not obligated to reschedule the lesson. However, you do have alternative options to make up for the missed session:

  • Swap with Another Student: You may be able to swap your lesson time with another student. Please ask your teacher for any possibilities. 

  • Video Recording: You can send a video recording of your practice to your teacher during or before the scheduled lesson time. The teacher will review the video, provide comments, and offer guidance on your next steps.

  • Online Lesson: You may choose to switch to an online lesson instead, if feasible.

 

• Missed Lessons: If you miss a lesson without prior notice, or fail to reschedule within the required 24-hour period, the lesson will be considered forfeited, and payment will not be refunded or credited.

 

 

3. Teacher Cancellations or Changes

• In the event that the teacher must cancel or miss a lesson, the teacher is obligated to either:

  • Reschedule the lesson at a mutually convenient time, or

  • Issue a make-up credit if rescheduling is not possible.

  • Replacement teacher will be arranged if necessary

 

• Make-Up Credit: Any make-up credit issued (either by the teacher or due to a cancellation with more than 24 hours' notice) is valid for 30 days from the original lesson date, unless the teacher agrees to prolong the period. 

 

4. Special Arrangements for Illness

• Serious or Long-Term Illness: We understand that illness can sometimes interfere with lesson attendance. If you are facing a serious or prolonged illness, please reach out to your teacher to discuss special arrangements or potential adjustments to your lesson schedule.

 

5. Make-Up Lessons

• Make-up lessons are offered only when a cancellation is made with at least 24 hours' notice.

• In case of prolonged illness or unavoidable circumstances, we may be able to offer an alternative lesson time, depending on availability. However, make-up lessons are not guaranteed, and are subject to scheduling constraints.

 

6. General Policies

• Punctuality: Please arrive on time for your scheduled lesson. If you arrive late, the lesson will still end at the scheduled time to avoid disrupting other students' schedules. If the teacher is late, the full lesson time will be provided. 

• Communication: We encourage open communication and are happy to address any questions or concerns you may have regarding the lessons, policies, or your progress. 

• Discontinuing Lessons: If you decide to discontinue lessons, we kindly ask that you provide at least 4 weeks' notice so that we can adjust schedules accordingly.

• Termination of lessons: We strive to provide a safe and positive environment for our students, parents and teachers; therefore, we do not tolerate any disrespectful or aggressive behaviours. We reserve the rights to terminate lessons at any time. In the event of termination, unused credits will be refunded.

• Rejoining: The monthly payment plan is designed for a commitment of the whole academic year, if you withdraw early and decide to rejoin within the academic year, it will incur an administration fee of £80. 

7. Holidays & Breaks

• The studio follows Harrow school term dates:

 

Autumn Term 2024

• Term time: Monday 2 Sep - Friday 25 Oct (includes Sat 26th)

• Half term break: Monday 28 Oct - Friday 1 Nov (includes Sat 2 Nov)

• Term time: Monday 4 Nov - Friday 20 Dec (includes Sat 21 Dec)

 

Spring Term 2025

• Term time: Monday 6 Jan - Friday 14 Feb (includes Sat 15 Feb)

• Half term break: Monday 17 Feb - Friday 21 Feb (includes Sat 22 Feb)

• Term time: Monday 24 Feb - Friday 4 Apr (includes Sat 5 Apr)

 

Summer Term 2025

• Term time: Tuesday 22 Apr - Friday 23 May (includes Sat 24 May) 

• Half term break: Monday 26 May - Friday 30 May (includes Sat 31 May)

• Term time: Monday 2 Jun - Tuesday 22 Jul (until 31 July if there are still credits for your lessons) 

 

8. Workshops & Concerts

• As part of the education, we arrange amazing opportunities for students to perform in concerts and participate in workshops or group sessions that are related to their studies. We strongly recommend students and parents not to miss out the opportunities, and try their best to fully participate.
